The theory of rational simple connectedness of \textit{A. J. de Jong} et al. [Publ. Math., Inst. Hautes Étud. Sci. 114, 1--85 (2011; Zbl 1285.14053)] aims to provide a general frame work for proving the existence of rational points for a rationally simply connected variety defined over the function field of a complex surface. This circle of ideas has already been successfully applied to the study of weak approximation and Serre's conjecture II. Even the definition of rational simple connectedness is somewhat complicated. The most technical part of the definition and of the theory is the so-called very twisting surface. It is not so easy to define and even more difficult to prove the existence of very twisting surfaces (at least to the reviewer). The paper under review is an attempt to clarify the situation a little bit. The author introduces some techniques to proving the existence of the very twisting surface. But it seems still too complicated to explain the techniques in a review like this. As a result of his study, the author proves the following. Theorem: Let \(X\) be a smooth complete intersection of degree \((d_1, \ldots, d_c)\) in \(\mathbb{P}^n\) such that \(d^2_1+\dots+d^2_c\leq n\). Then \(X\) has a very twisting surface if the Fano variety of lines of \(X\) is smooth. Then the author deduces some results about existence of rational points and weak approximation (which are already known to follow from the existence of a very twisting surface).
