    For \(n\in \mathbb{N}\cup\{\infty\}\), the standard \(q\)-hypergeometric notation is \[ (a)_n=(a; q)_n=\prod_{k=1}^n (1-aq^{k-1}). \] Two of the 10th-order mock theta functions found on p. 9 of Ramanujan's lost notebook are \[ X(q):=\sum_{n\geq 0}\dfrac{(-1)^nq^{n^2}}{(-q; q)_{2n}} \] and \[ \chi(q):=\sum_{n\geq 0}\dfrac{(-1)^nq^{(n+1)^2}}{(-q; q)_{2n+1}}. \] \textit{B. Gordon} and \textit{R. J. McIntosh} [Dev. Math. 23, 95--144 (2012; Zbl 1246.33006)] have recently conjectured the following identities for \(X(q)\) and \(\chi(q)\): \[ X(-q^2)=-2qg_2(q, q^{20})+2q^5g_2(q^9, q^{20})+\dfrac{(q^4;q^4)_{\infty}^2(j(-q^2,q^{20})^2j(q^{12},q^{40})+2q(q^{40};q^{40})_{\infty}^{3})} {(q^2; q^2)_{\infty}(q^{20}; q^{20})_{\infty}(q^{40}; q^{40})_{\infty}j(q^8,q^{40})} \] and \[ \chi(-q^2)=-2q^3g_2(q^3, q^{20})-2q^5g_2(q^7, q^{20})+\dfrac{q^2(q^4;q^4)_{\infty}^2(2q(q^{40};q^{40})_{\infty}^3-j(-q^6,q^{20})^2j(q^4,q^{40}))} {(q^2; q^2)_{\infty}(q^{20}; q^{20})_{\infty}(q^{40}; q^{40})_{\infty}j(q^{16},q^{40})}, \] where \[ g_2(x, q):=\dfrac{1}{j(q, q^2)}\sum_{n\in \mathbb{Z}}\dfrac{(-1)^nq^{n(n+1)}}{1-xq^n} \] and \(j(x, q):=(x)_{\infty}(q/x)_{\infty}(q)_{\infty}\). In this paper under review, the authors prove the above two identities.
