\textit{P. F. Stiller} [Pac. J. Math. 128, No. 1, 157--189 (1987; Zbl 0591.14022)] constructed families of elliptic surfaces (projective surfaces with a fibration in elliptic curves) and computed the Picard number of a general element in each family, which is linked to the rank of the Mordell-Weil group of the generic fiber of the fibration. In the paper under review, the author provides a very explicit construction of a \(\mathbb Q\)-basis for the Neron-Severi group of general elements of Stiller's families. When the elliptic surface is rational, the \(\mathbb Q\)-basis turns out to be also a \(\mathbb Z\)-basis.
