The authors work in the framework of Sobolev spaces with variable exponents to study the following nonlinear problem with the Dirichlet boundary condition: \[ \left\{\begin{aligned} &-\text{div}\big(a(x,u,\nabla u) +\phi(u)\big) + g(x,u,\nabla u) = f(x) -\text{div}F(u) \quad \text{in } \Omega, \\ &u|_{\partial\Omega} =0, \end{aligned}\right. \] where \(f \in L^1(\Omega)\), \(F \in \big(L^{p'(x)}(\Omega)\big)^N\), \(g\) is such that \(g(x,u,\nabla u)u \geq 0\) and it satisfies a natural growth condition with respect to \(|\nabla u|\). Here, \(-\text{div}(a(x,u,\nabla u))\) is a Leray-Lions operator from \(W_0^{1,p(x)}(\Omega)\) to its dual. The existence of an entropy solution to this problem is obtained. Then, it is shown that an entropy solution is also a renormalized solution to this problem.
