Let \((\Omega,\Sigma,\lambda)\) be a probability space, \(X\) a Banach space and \(M(\Omega,X)\) the space of all \(X\)-valued \(\sigma\)-additive measures on \((\Omega,\Sigma)\) of bounded variation endowed with the variation norm. In the main theorem, the author characterizes weakly precompact sets contained in \(\{m\in M(\Omega,\Sigma): |m|\leq\lambda\}\); here, a subset \(S\) of a Banach space is called weakly precompact if any sequence of \(S\) has a weakly Cauchy subsequence. Moreover, several consequences of the main theorem are given.
