The authors establish an infinite dimensional version of the Fountain Theorem which employs linking arguments to establish the existence of critical points for functionals defined on a Hilbert space. The abstract result is then applied to noncooperative elliptic systems \[ \begin{cases} \Delta u = H_u(x, u, v) & \text{ in } \Omega\\ -\Delta v = H_v(x, u, v) & \text{ in } \Omega\\ u = v = 0 & \text{ on } \partial\Omega \end{cases} \] where \(\Omega\) is an open bounded subset of \(\mathbb{R}^N\).
