\textit{M. Auslander} and \textit{I. Reiten} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 52, 69--74 (1975; Zbl 0337.16004)] conjectured that for an Artin algebra \(\Lambda\) and a finitely generated \(\Lambda\)-module \(M,\) if \(\mathrm{Ext}_\Lambda^i(M,M \oplus \Lambda) = 0\) for all \(i > 0\) then \(M\) is projective. Then Auslander, Ding and Solberg studied the conjecture for a commutative noetherian ring, not necessarily an Artin algebra (this is known as ARC). \textit{T. Araya} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 137, No. 6, 1941--1944 (2009; Zbl 1163.13015)] showed that if the ARC holds in codimension one for a commutative Gorenstein ring \(R\), then it holds for \(R.\) In this paper, the authors extend this result to left Gorenstein \(R\)-algebra \(\Lambda\) whenever \(R\) is a commutative Gorenstein ring.
