    The author considers the second-order nonhomogeneous differential inclusion \[ p(t)u''(t)+q(t)u'(t)\in Au(t)+f(t)\text{ for a.e. }t\in \mathbb{R}_{+}\equiv [0,\infty ) \] in a real Hilbert space, subject to the conditions \[ u(0)=x\in \overline{D(A)}, \quad \sup_{t\geq 0}a(t)\|u(t)\|^2<\infty, \] where \(p,q\in L^{\infty}(\mathbb{R}_{+},\mathbb{R})\) such that ess sup \(p>0\), \(\frac{q}{p}\) is differentiable a.e. and \[ \text{ess inf }\left[ \left( \frac{q}{p}\right) ^{2}+2\left( \frac{q}{p}\right) ^{\prime }\right] >0, \] \(A:D(A)\subseteq H\rightarrow \) subsets of \(H\) is a maximal monotone operator such that the range of \(A\) contains \(0\), \(f:\mathbb{R}_{+}\rightarrow H\) and \(a(t)=\exp \left( \int_{0}^{t}\frac{q}{p}d\tau \right)\). This paper builds on the author's earlier article [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 419, No. 1, 94--113 (2014; Zbl 1328.34054)] and uses some of the same foundations and methods. Let \(Y\equiv \left\{ f:\mathbb{R}_{+}\rightarrow H:\|f\|_{Y}<\infty \right\}\), where \(\|f\|_{Y}\equiv \int_{0}^{\infty }\|f(t)\| t\sqrt{a(t)}dt\). In Theorem 2.5, the author proves existence of a unique strong solution assuming \(f\in Y\cap L_{\text{loc}}^{2}(\mathbb{R}_{+},H)\). In Theorem 2.6, assuming only that \(f\in Y\), existence of a unique weak solution is proven. Information about the asymptotic behavior of the solution is also obtained.
