Fundamental group and covering properties of hyperbolic surgery manifolds (Q2260760)

In this paper, the authors study a family of closed 3-manifolds obtained by Dehn surgeries on certain specified links in the 3-sphere. The family includes all the 3-manifolds obtained by Dehn surgeries on 2-bridge knots. The authors explicitly describe presentations of the fundamental groups for the manifolds, and show that the presentations are geometric, i.e., they are induced from Heegaard diagrams of the 3-manifolds. Also they give explicit links in the 3-sphere on which the family of manifolds is obtained as double branched covers.
