Control mechanisms for ecological-economic systems (Q2261615)

The authors, basing mainly on Russian and partly also on foreign experience in the field of designing economic mechanisms of risk/safety level control of ecological systems discuss a set of optimization, game-theoretic and simulation models of control mechanisms for ecological-economic systems. The book begins with general discussion of risk level control of such systems and optimization techniques used in risk level reduction programs. Then the authors describe control mechanisms at the level of industrial enterprises taking into account such issues as penalty, cost compensation, risk payment, insurance and audit mechanisms. Afterwards, control mechanisms at the level of regional authorities are discussed taking into account models of risk payment, risk level reduction, risk quotas, insurance and economic motivation. These considerations are followed by description of simulation models including business games and simulation games. The conclusion chapter of the book contains remarks about future directions for this area.
