Connections in the second order tangent bundle with extended structure group (Q2263103)

In this paper the authors investigate connections in the tangent bundle with extended structure group. Let \(\widehat{T}^{2}\) and \('\widehat{T}^{2}\) be two extended second order differential connections on a smooth manifold \(M\) which determine the same second order differential connection \(q^{2}(\widehat{T}^{2}) = q^{2}('\widehat{T}^{2})\). Then they show that the \(D^{2}\)-prolongation \(\sigma^{D^{2}}\) of a section \(\sigma: M\longrightarrow T^{2}M\) sends the horizontal distribution of \(\widehat{\Gamma}\) on \(T^{2}M\) into the horizontal distribution of \('\widehat{T}^{2}\) if and only if \[ \widehat{\nabla}\overline{\sigma}=\varphi('\widehat{T}^{2}, \sigma). \]
