In the book under consideration, Volterra series based frequency domain theory is presented. The results are in both theoretical investigations and practical application algorithms. Chapter 1 gives an introduction to frequency domain methods for nonlinear systems and Volterra series expansion. Chapter 2 presents the Generalized Frequency Response Functions (GFRF) for Nonlinear Differential Equations (NDE) and Nonlinear AutoRegressive with eXogenous (NARX) input models. In Chapter 3 the properties of output frequencies of Volterra-type nonlinear systems are investigated. Counteraction between different nonlinearities is studied at some specific frequencies, as well as periodicity property of output frequencies. In Chapters 4, 5 and 6, a parametric characteristic analysis method is established for parameterized polynomial systems. A technique is developed to find what model parameters affect system frequency response functions and what the influence can be. An analytical relation between high order frequency response functions of Volterra systems and system time-domain parameters is shown. Chapters 7, 8, 9 and 10 deal with nonlinear analysis and design in the frequency domain. System output spectrum up to any orders is explicitly expressed as a polynomial function of model parameters. Analysis and design of nonlinear vibration control systems are provided in Chapter 10. In Chapters 11 and 12, a novel mapping function from parametric characteristics of the GFRF is presented. Based on this the \(n\)th-order GFRF and output spectrum can be directly written in a polynomial form in terms of first order GFRF, model parameters and input. In Chapter 12, a systematic frequency domain approach for exploiting nonlinearities for vibration control is presented. Chapters 13 and 14 deal with parametric convergence bound criteria for Volterra series expansions of nonlinear systems which is described by the NARX model. It is shown under what parametric conditions a given nonlinear system (NARX model) can have a convergent Volterra series expansions.
