For the boundary value problem \[ k(x)u'(x) - u''(x) = f(x) \quad \text{on}\quad [0,1] \] with the homogeneous conditions \( u(0)= u(1)=0, \) that describe the stationary convection-diffusion process, the stability and convergence of the Petrov-Galerkin method is proved to approximate solving this problem. The basis quadratic functions \( W_{i}(x)\) for this method have the special form \[ W_{i}(x)=N_{i}(x)+ a_{i} W^{*}_{i}(x) \] for each mesh points \(x_{i}\) and \( a_{i}\) are the weight parameters. An illustration of this method for any numerical examples is not given.
