The paper is concerned with the use of interpolating splines of 5 degree on a triangulated mesh of nodes where there is not an explicit representation of basis interpolating polynomials of degree 5 in each triangulation triangle, without which it is necessary to solve 21 systems having 21 unknown coefficients (coefficients of the interpolating polynomials). The authors give an explicit formula for all 21 (Zlamal-Zenisek) basis interpolating polynomials of degree 5 in each triangle of the triangulation for the interpolation operator and also for the integral representation of the remainder term derived from the approximation of differentiable functions with such operators. The results are useful with the FEMLAB (a software package for finite element method), the proposed formulas reducing the number of arithmetic operations needed to find all 21 coefficients for each triangle. Further is advanced the idea that it is possible to construct efficient schemes of the finite element method for solving boundary value problems in elliptic differential equations, particularly for solving a biharmonic equation.
