The author transforms the nonlinear eigenvalue problem arising in the surface-acoustic wave propagation in a nonhomogeneous isotropic elastic half-space to an equivalent integral equation for the adequate Green function. The paper mostly consists in establishing theorems aiming at showing the contraction character of a certain operator, so that an iteration procedure can be used to solve the said integral equation.
