Let \(\pi\) be a set of primes. A subgroup H of the finite group G is called \(\pi^*\)-quasinormal in G if H permutes with every \(\pi\)-subgroup of G. The authors consider the following situation: G is a finite group containing subgroups A and B such that i) A and B are \(\pi^*\)- quasinormal in G, ii) A and B belong to a certain class \({\mathcal K}\) of finite groups, and iii) \(G=AB\). Does G belong to \({\mathcal K}?\) The authors show that the answer is positive when \({\mathcal K}\) is the class of \(\pi\)- separable groups. Some similar results of a more complex nature are also proved.
