In this paper the author considers primary Hopf manifolds \(V_ A\) given as factor spaces of \({\mathbb{C}}^ n\setminus \{0\}\) under the action of the infinite cyclic group of automorphisms generated by a linear automorphism A of \({\mathbb{C}}^ n\) with the modulus of its eigenvalues less than 1. The author describes explicitly the minimal versal deformation of \(V_ A\) and computes the dimension of its basis. He also notes connections of this description with the resonance theory of Poincaré-Dulac in discrete time. If eigenvalues of A satisfy certain equations, then small deformations of \(V_ A\) may not be Hopf manifolds of the considered ''linear'' type (but they are still general primary Hopf manifolds, i.e. manifolds of the form \(V_ A\), where A is not necessarily linear). Such equations correspond to resonance equations in the theory of Poincaré. But in a note added in proof the author remarks that small deformations of a general primary Hopf manifold are also general primary Hopf manifolds. This is a result of Haefliger, but it also follows from the author's considerations. In theorem 8 the author gives another proof of the theorem of Reich on the normal form of a local holomorphic contraction of \({\mathbb{C}}^ n\) to 0. This is a generalization of the Poincaré-Dulac theorem on the normal form of a holomorphic map. In the new proof minimal versal deformations of Hopf manifolds are used. The author refers to a paper, which is not given in the references and the reviewer supposes it should be \textit{L. Reich}, ''Normalformen biholomorpher Abbildungen mit anziehendem Fixpunkt'' [Math. Ann. 180, 233- 255 (1969; Zbl 0177.345)]. (A printer's mistake: the quoted reviewer's paper appeared in Math. Ann., not in Ann. Math.).
