Let \([x_ 0,...,x_ n]\) denote the n-th divided difference of f at the \(n+1\) distinct points \(x_ 0,...,x_ n.\) In a recent paper \textit{J. E. Pečarić} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 90, 213-218 (1982; Zbl 0508.26008)] proved that if f is 3-convex then \([x,x+t]\) is convex as a function of x. In the present paper the author generalizes this to: if f is \((n+2)\)- convex then \([x,x+h_ 1,...,x+h_ n]\) is convex as a function of x. Since for such a function \(f^{(n)}\) is convex and there exists a \(\xi\) such that \([x,x+h_ 1,...,x+h_ n]=(1/n!)f^{(n)}(\xi),\) the author suggests an alternative proof if it could be shown that \(\xi\) is an increasing function of x.
