The authors consider the problem of solving the linear two-point boundary-value, on the semi-infinite interval [0,\(\infty)\), given by: \(- y''+p(x)y'+q(x)y=f(x),\quad y(0)=\alpha \quad and\quad \lim_{x\to \infty}y(x)=\beta.\) It is assumed that \(q(x)>0\), \(\lim_{x\to \infty}q(x)=\ell\) and \(\lim_{x\to \infty}p(x)=m\). The solution is found by using the discrete invariant imbedding method over a finite interval with the boundary condition at infinity given by \(\lim_{x\to \infty}T E^{-1}F(x,y,\dot y)=0\), where the projection matrix \(T=(1\) 0), \(F=A\left( \begin{matrix} y\\ y'\end{matrix} \right)-\left( \begin{matrix} 0\\ f(x)\end{matrix} \right)\) and E is the eigenmatrix of the matrix \(A=\left( \begin{matrix} 0\quad 1\\ \ell \quad m\end{matrix} \right)\) such that the first column of E corresponds to the positive root of the equation \(s^ 2-ms- \ell =0\) and the second column to the negative root. The procedure is illustrated by an example where \(p(x)=-2\), \(q(x)=2\).
