The author studies the equation \(u_ t=D_{xx}(\phi (u))\), \(t>0\), \(x\in (0,1)\), where \(\phi\) is a strictly increasing continuous function, the boundary conditions are of mixed type, and the initial datum is a not necessarily nonnegative measure. The existence and uniqueness of a strong solution satisfying \(u_ t\in L^ 2_{loc}(0,T;L^ 2(0,1))\) is proved. The results of the author generalize results of D. V. Widder (linear case) and M. Pierre (nonlinear case with nonnegative initial datum).
