Let \(L(\lambda)=I-\sum^{\infty}_{j=1}\lambda^ jH_ j\) be an entire operator function with \(H_ j\in S_{1/j}\), (j\(\geq 1)\). Here \(S_{\alpha}\), \(0<\alpha <\infty\), is the ideal of all compact operators A acting on a separable Hilbert space \({\mathcal H}\) such that the s-numbers of A belong to the sequence \(\ell_{\alpha}\). Denote by \(\lambda_ 1,\lambda_ 2,..\). the sequence of characteristic numbers of L(\(\lambda)\) arranged in order of increasing absolute values and multiplicities taken into account. The author proves that \(tr H_ 1=\sum^{\infty}_{j=1}\lambda_ j^{-1},\) \(\det L(\lambda)=\prod^{\infty}_{j=1}(1-\lambda \lambda_ j^{-1}),\) under an additional convergence condition. This is the generalization of the known theorem for operator polynomials where the convergence condition is not necessary. The proof is based on a method of linearization.
