In this work a strict and of high level mathematical tensor analysis is presented in order to formulate a mathematical model and the solution of a series of practical problems; these problems arise in stress-free joints of structures, when various parameters, like change in temperature or in concentration of a fluid absorbed by solids, cause the deformation of the joint, in such a way that big stresses appear. The task for the solution of these practical problems is to find such a way of joining the two materials together, that they, being deformed in a known way, remain unstressed as the before-mentioned parameters vary. The homogeneous deformation of the two connected materials, is posed as a necessary presupposition. The deformation is, generally, assumed as a known function of the variable \(\tau\) ; \(\tau\) is interpreted either as temperature or as the moisture content or as anything else that can cause the deformation of the stress-free joint. The work includes various theorems and lemmas, which construct the elementary basic tools of a general theory, sufficient to be confronted with practical problems appearing in joinery or molding or plane boards or elsewhere, and, illustrates once more the connection between theory and practice. The paper is original and it is very clearly written.
