\textit{G. J. Rieger} has shown [Pac. J. Math. 78, 241-242 (1978; Zbl 0395.10049)] that for all real c with \(1<c<3/2\) the equation \[ \sum_{1\leq n\leq N, [n^ c]\quad squarefree}1=(6/\pi^ 2)N+O_ c(N^{(2c+1)/4}) \] is an immediate consequence from estimates of Deshouillers concerning the distribution of the integer-sequences \([n^ c]\) modulo k. Using the same method and results of an earlier paper [Acta Arith. 35, 117-174 (1979; Zbl 0342.10027)] the author proves for generalized polynomial functions of degree \(\geq 2\) and for exponential functions f(y) \[ \sum_{1\leq n\leq N, [f(n+x)]\quad squarefree}1=(6/\pi^ 2+o(1))N \] for almost all \(x\geq 0\).
