Concerning on the relationship between factorization structures and closure operators, the author considers factorization structures (E,M) on certain nice concrete categories which are strong (i.e. \(M\subset\) embeddings) but not necessarily additive. Notions of hull operators and hull subobject operators are introduced and it is shown that there is a 1-1 correspondence between the classes of hull operators, hull subobject operators and strong factorization structures. The category FUNSP of continuous function spaces on topological spaces [cf. the author, Stud. Math. 55, 225-237 (1976; Zbl 0355.54002)] plays an important role among several examples.
