For real \(\alpha\),\(\beta\) and complex x, let \((1+xt)^{\alpha}(1-t)^{- \beta}=\sum^{\infty}_{n=0}A_ n^{\alpha,\beta}(x)t^ n.\) The author uses Jacobi polynomials to prove that \(\max \{| A_ n^{\alpha,\beta}(x)|:\quad | x| =1\}\) occurs when \(x=1\) if \(\alpha\geq 1\) and \(\beta\geq 1\). This extends an earlier result of the reviewer [Symp. complex Analysis, Canterbury 1973, 17-27 (1974; Zbl 0302.30022)].
