The authors propose a new method for solving the initial value problem for electric wave propagation in electrically and magnetically anisotropic materials with a uniaxial vertically inhomogeneous structure. It consists in transforming the Fourier transformed problem into a system of second kind Volterra integral equations, which is solved by the method of successive iterations. Using the Paley-Wiener theorem, the solution of the original initial value problem is found and the existence of a unique solution is proved.
