Let \(dA\) denote the normalized Lebesgue area measure on the unit disc \(\mathbb D\) of the complex plane. For a non-negative integrable function \(\omega\) on \(\mathbb D\) which is a Békollé weight, the space \(L_a^p(\omega)\), \(p>0\), consists of all the analytic functions \(f\) on \(\mathbb D\) such that \(\|f\|_{p,\omega}:= (\int_{\mathbb D} |f|^p \omega\,dA )^{1/p}< \infty\), that is a closed subspace of \(L^p(\omega)\). The main objective of this interesting article is to characterize those positive measures \(\mu\) on \(\mathbb D\) such that \((\int_{\mathbb D} |f^{(n)}|^q \,dA )^{1/q} \leq K \|f\|_{p,\omega}\) holds for each \(f \in L_a^p(\omega)\), \(0<p,q<\infty\), \(n\in \mathbb N\), thus extending work by D.\,Luecking for standard weights \(\omega(z)=(1-|z|^2)^\alpha\), \(\alpha>-1\). In particular, the author obtains a necessary and sufficient condition for the inclusion map \(i_p: L_a^p(\omega) \rightarrow L^p(\mu)\) to be bounded. The measures with this property are called Carleson measures for \(L_a^p(\omega)\). This condition is shown to be independent of \(p\). As a consequence, boundedness and compactness of Toeplitz operators \(T_{\mu}\) and of a class of Volterra integration operators \(T_g\) acting on these spaces are characterized. Consequences for composition operators \(C_{\varphi}\) on the Hilbert space \(L_a^2(\omega)\) are presented. The membership of the operators \(T_{\mu}\), \(T_g\) and \(C_\varphi\) to the Schatten classes \(S_p\) is also investigated.
