In another paper [Geom. Topol. 11, 939--977 (2007; Zbl 1132.57024)], the authors studied the intersection problem for compact smooth manifolds \(N\) equipped with a closed submanifold \(Q\) and produced an obstruction whose vanishing is necessary for the existence of a solution for this problem. Here, equivariant intersection problems are considered for manifolds \(N\) under the assumption that the above manifolds are equipped with smooth \(G\)-actions, for a finite group \(G\) and \(Q\) is a \(G\)-submanifold. So, a complete obstruction, living in some cohomology, to solving equivariant intersection problems in the equivariant metastable range is given. Also, the existence of an obstruction living in some special \(G\)-bordism group is proved. Applications of this theory to embedding problems, equivariant fixed point problems and the study of periodic points of self maps are given.
