The authors consider the following singular boundary value problem: \[ \begin{cases} u''=p(u')[f(t,u,u')-r(t)], \quad 0<t<T,\\ u(0)=0,\quad u'(T)=0,\end{cases} \] where \(f\) is a Carathéodory function which may have simultaneous time and space singularities (at \(t=0, T=0\) and \(x=0\)). When \(f\) satisfies some polynomial growth conditions, the authors provide conditions on \(p, f, r\) which guarantee that the problem has positive solutions in \(AC[0,T]\). To prove the main existence results, the authors use regularization and approximation techniques. They also prove the existence of maximal positive solutions by using compactness arguments together with diagonalization principles.
