The authors study the problem of describing the motion of two layers of immiscible, heavy, viscous, incompressible fluids lying above an infinite rigid bottom and with surface tension on the interfaces. The densities of the two fluids are assumed to be different. The local solvability of the above problem can be proved by investigating the corresponding problem in Lagrangian coordinates. Furthermore, the global solvability is proven near the equilibrium state.
