This is a very nice survey article on quantum toroidal algebras and their representation theory. Quantum toroidal algebras (or double affine quantum algebras) are obtained from quantum affine Kac-Moody algebras by the Drinfeld quantum affinization process. As the author explains, in type \(A\) they are in Schur-Weyl duality with elliptic Cherednik algebras. Some new results are announced at the end of the paper on a new class of representations and relations to ``infinite'' quantum affinizations. Other possible directions for further research are also discussed, specially related to interesting developments for Cherednik algebras.
