In recent work by \textit{P. Etingof, A. Henriques, J. Kamnitzer} and the author [Ann. Math. (2) 171, No. 2, 731--777 (2010; Zbl 1206.14051)], a presentation and explicit basis was given for the rational cohomology of the real locus \(\overline{M}_{0,n}(\mathbb{R})\) of the moduli space of stable genus \(0\) curves with \(n\) marked points. In this paper the author investigates the action of \(S_n\) on this space (induced by permutations of the marked points). He is able to produce an explicit formula for the cycle index and moreover he finds that the values of the graded character factorize. Finally, the author applies these results to give a formula for the Euler character of \(\overline{M}_{0,n}(\mathbb{R})\), in particular he determines the permutations for which the Euler character is nonzero. Although the results are similar to the case of \(\overline{M}_{0,n}(\mathbb{C})\), the techniques used by the author are quite different.
