The notion of an atlas is one of the main ingredients in the definition of an \(A\)-bundle (or yet a ``generalized vector bundle''). In this paper, the authors analyse some aspects of the compatibility of charts that lead to a modification of the classical definition of an \(A\)-bundle. Actually, they introduce the notion of a ``disjoint atlas'', and define in turn an \(A\)-bundle over \(X\) to be the triple \((E, \pi, X)\) equipped with a disjoint atlas. Here, \(A\) stands for a topological algebra, \(E\) is a set, \(X\) a topological space and \(\pi\) an onto map from \(E\) to \(X\). Among other things, as an outcome of the new definition, they give a version of the Serre-Swan-Mallios theorem in that context. To achieve it, they prove some key results without the assumption that \(A\) be Waelbroeck. The latter assumption was employed by the first author in [``A generalization of a Serre-Swan-Mallios theorem,'' Rend.\ Circ.\ Mat.\ Palermo, 55, 145--166 (2006; Zbl 1194.18007)].
