The authors describe the set containment problem in terms of sets \(F\) and \(G\) defined as follows. Let \(X\) and \(Z\) be Banach spaces and \(S\) a closed convex cone in \(Z\). Consider the sets \[ F = \{x\in X: f_i (x) \in -\operatorname{int} S,\;\forall i\in I,\quad f_j(x) \in -S,\;\forall j\in J\} \] and \[ G = \{x\in X: g_t (x) \in -S,\;\forall t\in W_1,\quad h_t(x) \in S,\;\forall t\in W_2\}, \] where \(I, J, W_1, W_2\) are index sets, \(I\cap J = \phi\), \(I\cup J \neq \phi\), \(W_1\cap W_2= \phi\), \(W_1\cup W_2 \neq \phi\) and all functions are \(S\)-convex from \(X\) to \(Z\). The set containment problem studied by the authors is to decide whether \(F\subset G\) or not. The authors contend that a dual characterization of such containments have played a key role in optimization theory. In this connection they describe the containment of closed convex sets and evenly convex sets in Banach spaces. This leads them to describe the general existence theorem for the system of strict reverse-convex inequalities with the collection of sublinear functions and reverse-convex inequalities with a collection of convex functions. It is claimed that the results obtained by \textit{M. A. Goberna} et al. [J. Glob. Optim. 34, No. 1, 33--54 (2006; Zbl 1098.90085)] are generalized by allowing \(F\) and \(G\) to contain a strict inequality in Banach spaces.
