In the paper under review, the author studies minimal surfaces in \(M \times \mathbb R\), where \(M\) is a complete Riemannian surface. First the author gives a proof of the existence and uniqueness of solution of the Plateau problem in this space whose boundary is a Nitsche graph. A second step is a construction of a Scherk-type surface in the space. These facts are applied to the proof of the main theorem, that is a Jenkins-Serrin type theorem [\textit{H. Jenkins} and \textit{J. Serrin}, Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 21, 321--342 (1966; Zbl 0171.08301)] which gives necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of certain minimal vertical graphs in \(\mathbb R^3\) and which generalizes the result by \textit{B. Nelli} and \textit{H. Rosenberg} in space \(\mathbb H^2 \times \mathbb R\) [Bull. Braz. Math. Soc. (N.S.) 33, No. 2, 263--292 (2002; Zbl 1038.53011)].
