The author deals with the monotonicity of zeros of paraorthogonal polynomials on the unit circle, with respect of a real parameter, considered as an eigenvalue problem. The main result concerns the eigenvalues of unitary upper Hessenberg matrices with positive subdiagonal elements, for which necessary and sufficient (tractable) conditions for the monotonicity with respect of a real parameter are established.
