The author studies the algebra \(R\), generated by the Araki-Kudo-Dyer-Lashof operations (in characteristic \(2\)), and which represents the (mod \(2\)) homology of the infinite loop space \(Q S^0\). This algebra is spanned by admissible monomials \(Q^I = Q^{i_{k-1}}\cdot\dots\cdot Q^{i_0}\) satisfying a certain excess condition, where \(Q^i\), \(i\in\mathbb N\), denotes the degree \(i\) Araki-Kudo-Dyer-Lashof operation. Recall that a monomial \(Q^I\) as above is admissible when \(i_s\leq 2 i_{s-1}\), for all \(1\leq s\leq k-1\). The author proves as a first result that the set of monomials \(Q^I\) such that \(i_s\) is divisible by \(2^s\) and \(i_s\geq 2 i_{s-1}\), for all \(1\leq s\leq k-1\) (as opposed to the above), form another basis of \(R\). Let \(R[k]\) be the submodule of \(R\) spanned by monomials of length \(k\). The author studies the relationship between his new basis and another basis of~\(R[k]\) obtained, by way of a canonical isomorphism \(R[k]\simeq D_k^*\), from a natural basis of the dual Dickson algebra \(D_k^* = H_*(B\mathbb F_2^k)_{GL_k}\) constructed by \textit{P. Turner} in [Math. Z. 224, No. 2, 209--228 (1997; Zbl 0890.55011)]. He proves, as a final result, that the matrix relating these bases is upper triangular with respect to the lexicographic ordering of Araki-Kudo-Dyer-Lashof monomials.
