A geodesic field of cones in a Riemannian space is defined by the condition that any geodesic tangent in one point to the cone remains tangent to the cones of the family in all the points; it was introduced by \textit{Ya. L. Shapiro} in [C. R. (Dokl.) Acad. Sci. URSS, n. Ser. 39, 6--9 (1943; Zbl 0060.38401)], who also found the infinitesimal condition \(\nabla _{(k}a_{ij)}=M_{(k}a_{ij)}\), where \(a_{ij}X^{i}X^{j}=0\) is the local equation of the field of cones and \((M_{k})\) is a tensor. The Weyl geodesics are considered by the condition \(\nabla _{(k}a_{ij)}=M_{(k}a_{ij)}+R_{(k}g_{ij)}\) that is invariant under conformal transformations of the metric \(g\) and where \((R_{k})\) is a tensor. The paper is motivated by the author's paper [Russ. Math. 40, No. 8, 23--31 (1996); translation from Izv. Vyssh. Uchebn. Zaved., Mat. 1996, No. 8(411), 25--33 (1996; Zbl 0904.53018)], where a geodesic field of cones was constructed such that \((a_{ij})\) comes from a non-degenerate tensor and the characteristic equation \(| a_{ij}-\lambda g_{ij}| =0\) has at least two real roots. A geodesic field of cones is constructed in the paper under review such that the characteristic equation has a pair of complex conjugate roots or a real root of multiplicity \(3\).
