The differential-algebraic system (DAS) \[ Q_1 x_1'+ Q_2 x_2'= R_1 x_1+ R_2 x_2+ f_1,\quad 0= R_3 x_1+ R_4 x_2+ f_2, \] is considered. The aim of the authors is to establish conditions under which the systems under consideration belong to the class of DAS with index 1, only using the properties of the blocks of the systems matrices. Some easy criteria are obtained.
