Let \(I\subset {\mathbb{R}}\) be an open interval and let \(x_ 0\in I\). A function f: \(I\to {\mathbb{R}}\) is said to be quasi-increasing at \(x_ 0\) iff \(\limsup_{x\to x_{0^-}}f(x)\leq f(x_ 0)\leq \liminf_{x\to x_{0^+}}f(x).\) Similarly is defined the notion of function quasi- decreasing at a point. The author studies some properties of quasi- monotonic functions and uses the results to prove that: If a subadditive bijection f: \({\mathbb{R}}_+\to {\mathbb{R}}_+\) is right continuous at 0 then it is an increasing homeomorphism of \({\mathbb{R}}_+\). This last result is used to characterize \(L^ p\)-norm.
