A general M-fraction introduced by McCabe and Murphy is related to two power series expansions of a function: about the points \(z=0\) and \(z=\infty\). The table (M-table) of convergents of the M-fraction presents a square block structure, like the similar structure of a Padé table. Then, by analogy with Padé table and C-table, the author examines in details algebraic properties of the M-table and of the corresponding table of Hankel determinants. He shows that the Frank theorem for square blocks in the Padé table is also true for the blocks in the M-table.
