    The author generalizes the \textit{M. J. Cowen-R. G. Douglas} theory [Acta Math. 141, 187-261 (1978; Zbl 0427.47016)] to tuples of commuting unbounded symmetric operators. Let \(T=(T_ 1,T_ 2,...,T_ n)\) be an n-tuple of symmetric operators in a Hilbert space. Assume that the common eigenspaces of the adjoint operators \(T^*_ 1,T^*_ 2,...,T^*_ n\) form an antiholomorphic bundle over some open set of \(C^ n\) and these eigenspaces span the whole Hilbert space. The author gives a (unitarily equivalent) canonical model for T which is the n-tuple of the multiplication operators by the coordinate functions in a holomorphic functional Hilbert space. The result is applied to multidimensional moment problems.
