Define \(C_{alg}(K)\) to be the minimum number of double points under the Hopf map h: \(S^ 3=\partial B^ 4\to {\mathbb{C}}{\mathbb{P}}^ 1\approx S^ 2\) of an algebraic link K. Two lower bounds are obtained for \(C_{alg}(K)\), where K is an algebraic knot, in terms of the pairs of integers \((p_ 1,q_ 1),...,(p_ n,q_ n)\) which describe K as an iterated torus knot.
