The paper begins with a valuable overview of interesting results on Stirling numbers, central factorial numbers, and their relation to the values of the Riemann zeta function \(\zeta (m+1)\) for integer \(m\geq 1\), with special emphasis on the interaction between sum and integral identities. New elementary multiple sum representations of \(\zeta (m+1)\) and \(\zeta (2m)\) are also given, some of which are natural extensions of the representations of \(\zeta(3)\) and \(\zeta(2)\) used in Apéry's celebrated proof of the irrationality of these numbers. Integral analogues are also given.
