A taxonomic class is a family of non-empty sets such that any two of its sets are either disjoint or one is entirely contained in the other. In this paper taxonomic classes, and some other related classes of sets, all essentially tree-like, are enumerated, both exactly and asymptotically, by methods similar to those used to enumerate labelled trees.
