Let \(P_ n(G)\) denote the class of harmonic polynomials of degree at most n whose sup-norm does not exceed 1 in a plane Jordan domain G containing 0. Define \(A_ n(G)=\sup | \tilde Q(z)|\), where the sup is taken over all conjugate polynomials \(\tilde Q\) of \(Q\in P_ n(G)\) normalized with \(\tilde Q(0)=0\) and over all \(z\in \bar G\). An old estimate due to Gol'shtein is \(A_ n(G)\leq C \ln (n+1),\) whenever G is a disk. The author here establishes a bound for an arbitrary Jordan domain G; it involves the modulus of certain curve family. In particular, the estimate \(A_ n(G)\leq C \ln (n+1)\) is obtained if G is a quasidisk or, more generally, a John disk. An example shows that this does not characterize John disks. We mention that recent studies of polynomial approximation in quasidisks and John disks include \textit{J. M. Anderson}, \textit{F. W. Gehring}, and \textit{A.Hinkkanen} [Differential geometry and complex analysis (1985; Zbl 0566.30001)] and \textit{K. Ryu} [Univ. Mich., Thesis, 1991].
