A normal complex projective variety \(X\) is of \(\epsilon\)-Fano type if there exists an effective \(\mathbb{Q}\)-divisor \(B\) such that the pair \((X,B)\) is an \(\epsilon\)-klt log Fano pair. The BAB-conjecture states (see Conj. 1.1 in the Introduction of this paper and references therein) that for any \(n>0\), \(0<\epsilon<1\), the set of all \(n\)-dimensional varieties of \(\epsilon\)-Fano type is bounded. This conjecture is known to be true in dimension two, and it is also known (see Theorem. 1.2) that every \(\epsilon\)-Fano type variety is birational to an \(\epsilon\)-Fano type variety with a Mori fibration structure. The main result in the paper under review (see Theorem. 1.3) proves the conjecture in dimension three under the aditional hypothesis of having a Mori fibration structure: the set of all \(3\)-folds of \(\epsilon\)-Fano type with Mori fibration structures is bounded.
