The author states: ``The goal of this note is to describe the Grothendieck-Serre duality on an arithmetic surface after the fixing of a horizontal divisor on this surface. We apply this description to the generalization of $\theta$-invariants from the case of arithmetic curves to the case of arithmetic surfaces.''
