Given \(k,n\in \mathbb{N}\) and a suitable function \(\omega\), the author considers the space \(C_b^{k,\omega}(\mathbb{R}^n)\) of all \(C^k\)-functions on \(\mathbb{R}^n\) whose partial derivatives up to order \(k\) are bounded and whose partial derivatives of order \(k\) have modulus of continuity \(O(\omega)\) (this becomes a Banach space when equipped with a suitable (natural) norm). The trace space \(C_b^{k,\omega}(S)\) for a closed subset \(S\subseteq \mathbb{R}^n\) is also considered. It is first proved that \(C_b^{k,\omega}(S)\) is isometrically isomorphic to the dual space of \(G_b^{k,\omega}(S)\), where \(G_b^{k,\omega}(S)\) denotes the closed linear span of the evaluation functionals \(\{\delta_s:s\in S\}\) in \(C_b^{k,\omega}(\mathbb{R}^n)^*\). Subsequently, the author studies properties of the spaces \(G_b^{k,\omega}(S)\). He proves, for instance, that \(G_b^{k,\omega}(S)\) is complemented in \(G_b^{k,\omega}(\mathbb{R}^n)\) and has the bounded approximation property.
