The authors consider certain systems of quasilinear subelliptic PDE in the Heisenberg groups \(\mathbb{H}^n\), extending a study of analogous systems in Euclidean space in [\textit{A. Fiscella} and \textit{P. Pucci}, Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl., Ser. A, Theory Methods 177, Part B, 454--479 (2018; Zbl 1407.35078)]. The systems considered here are of the form \[ -\mathrm{div}_H(A(|D_H u|_H) D_H u) + B(|u|)u = \lambda H_u(u,v) + \frac{\alpha}{\wp^{\star}} |v|^\beta |u|^{\alpha - 2} u \] \[ -\mathrm{div}_H(A(|D_H v|_H) D_H v) + B(|v|)v = \lambda H_v(u,v) + \frac{\beta}{\wp^{\star}} |u|^\alpha |v|^{\beta - 2} v. \] Here \(D_H\) is the horizontal gradient on \(\mathbb{H}^n\), and \(\mathrm{div}_H\) the horizontal divergence. There are several assumptions on the functions \(A,B,H\), the parameter \(\lambda\), and the exponents \(\wp^\star, \alpha, \beta\). Among them, the function \(A\) is required to be \(C^1\), positive and increasing, and to satisfy certain \((p,q)\) growth conditions similar to those introduced in [\textit{P. Marcellini}, J. Differ. Equations 90, No. 1, 1--30 (1991; Zbl 0724.35043)]. The exponents satisfy \(\alpha + \beta = \wp^\star := \wp Q/(Q-\wp)\) for some \(1 < \wp < Q\), where \(Q=2n+2\) is the homogeneous dimension of \(\mathbb{H}^n\). The main result is that the system has nontrivial solutions for all sufficiently large \(\lambda\). A key ingredient is a concentration compactness principle similar to the result obtained in [\textit{D. Kang}, Differ. Equ. Appl. 4, No. 3, 435--444 (2012; Zbl 1271.35019)].
